Upgrade Alibre or Geomagic Design Any Version to V17, Special Offer

CADDIT announces a limited, one-time maintenance fee which will allow CAD users to upgrade to the most current version of Geomagic Design from any previous version of either Alibre- or Geomagic Design. Any customer in Australia who bought Alibre Personal, Alibre Professional, Alibre Design Expert and Geomagic Design Elements, and who are not on current maintenance can subscribe now for one flat fee on the CADDIT.net website until December 31, 2015. Maintenance subscribers receive all updates and support from 3D Systems for a one-year period after booking, so for outdated / lapsed users this represents an excellent return on the original investment and an opportunity to migrate over to the new license system. Note that the exact AUD price is subject to change. Offer applies only to each seat of purchased software. Multiple installed seats on one license will be charged separately. Dongle and network fees may apply seperately.  This offer does not apply to the AlibreCAM, Mfiles/Vault or Dynamics add-ons.

For one flat fee, any user of previous versions of Alibre or Geomagic Design can now update - includes hobby users.
As previously announced, newer versions of Geomagic Design now use a new serial-key based floating license which requires occasional connection to the internet for verification purposes. Users with problematic internet, or having no internet, may wish to take advantage of the new Geomagic Design USB license dongle instead. The USB dongle can be ordered on the same page as CADDIT Geomagic Subscription Renewals.

These offers are only valid for online purchases placed using the following web link:

At a highly affordable price point, Geomagic Design delivers top-end tools at lower cost, including comprehensive assembly, parametric and direct editing tools, 2D documentation, sheet metal design, motion analysis and integrated CAD data sharing tools. Geomagic Design 2015 (v17) Released, 32 Bit Support by Special Request

Sydney, Australia 19 February 2015 - CADDIT Announces the immediate availability of Geomagic Design 2015 V17 Release. This is somewhat a stability / bugfix release but with several new and important features requested by users in Australia and around the world. 3D Systems demonstrates its commitment to making Geomagic Design an improved tool for 3D mechanical design and drafting with this release. The most significant (and perhaps most understated) enhancement is the long-awaited Global Parameters feature. What are "global parameters"? Basically, a global parameter is a design value or equation which is shared across multiple parts and/or assemblies. The concept is very similar to SolidWorks global variables. Global variable data is stored independently in a newly released format called an ".AD_GLP" file. Any part or assembly can be associated to the values stored in an AD_GLP file.

A new set of Global Parameters can be created in Geomagic Design from the file menu -> "New" -> "Global Parameters" as shown in the Home window screenshot below:

Selecting this file type opens the new Editor interface for Global Parameters as shown. Create new parameters and save the final data as a new AD_GLP:

Your new Global Parameter file can thereafter be selected from any part or assembly and be used in that design by clicking the new "Global Parameters" supplied in both the Part and Assembly menu ribbons. Click "Select File" and choose your newly created AD_GLP file from the folder where it was saved to.

Other new features include: The Isolate command has been added to design instances in the Drawing Explorer. It is used to isolate a design instance in a drawing view, especially ones that are affected by an assembly feature. Standard fundamental deviations and International Tolerance (IT) grades can be selected to create Fit Tolerances on a hole and shaft, which will determine the type of fit. The dialog boxes for creating Reference Geometry have been updated to more intuitively show how reference geometry is created and to visually assist users on the various creation methods that can be used in different reference geometry creation situations. A new "Summary BOM" can now be created from an assembly. It can be used to override the Treat as part in BOM when used as a subassembly option. This is useful for quickly creating a BOM that shows all parts in subassemblies if multiple subassemblies have been set to be treated as a part.

A 32-bit version of Geomagic Design 2015 is still available but only by special request. Users should contact CADDIT for link and availability. Legacy users of Alibre Design Pro and Expert are strongly urged to renew their software maintenance subscription if they wish to take advantage or these new features and the remaining 32-bit -platform support. Subscriptions can be renewed online using this webpage: https://www.caddit.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=74&language=en

Geomagic Freeform Released on CADDIT.net; New 2014 Version Offers Mouse Input, More..

Sydney, Australia 28 October 2014 - After several years of successful partnership with 3D Systems in Australia and users of their affordable Geomagic Design mechanical design software, CADDIT Australia has released Geomagic FREEFORM - a highly advanced organic CAD modelling and digital sculpting solution. Sensable Freeform was acquired by 3D Systems in April 2012 and is now a key component of the Geomagic software platform. Geomagic Freeform offers several unique features useful for artistic / organic computer aided design and digital sculpting:
  • 21st century cutting-edge, virtual-reality artist's studio software
  • Direct, natural carving and shaping technique like that used in traditional clay sculpting.
  • Virtual "clay" using relative-placement point cloud datasets of 3D pixels (called "voxels").
  • Human interaction with the computer model using "haptic" articulating arm device providing physical tactile "touch" sensation with the computer model.
  • Edit / clean / analyse / export CAD mesh datasets such as STL or OBJ.
  • Unique Bi-direction NURBS-mesh and mesh-NURBS conversion
  • Open C++ toolkit for development of custom haptic applications.
Geomagic Freeform is not a mechanical design software in the traditional sense. Aptly named, Freeform is mainly an artistic tool for digital sculpting, reverse engineering and content creation. Examples of uses for Geomagic Freeform are in the areas of fine art, toys and merchandise design, jewellery, footwear and apparel design, aftermarket product customizations, 3D printing, movie entertainment and animation content and model development, historical and restoration work, dental, medical and rehabilitation organic fittings and frames... virtually any application where design needs to fit natural freeform shapes as opposed to a more rigid mechanical specification.

The new version of Geomagic Freeform was first shown in June 2014 with 3D Systems and CADDIT at NMW in Sydney, with successive demonstrations held at various industry events. CADDIT is now happy to announce the availability of free brief demonstration bookings, by appointment, for this new haptic technology locally at their new Parramatta office location. Freeform can also be downloaded for a free trial from CADDIT and the software will now work with just a mouse (although having the haptic device is still strongly advised).
